As in Yankee Doodle Dandy. 5112013 Yep sounds like a hipster. The etymology of dude is unknown but coming from the word doodle from Yankee Doodle Dandy is highly possible. The dude-slaught gained momentum through the 1980s and 1990s as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and dude-heavy movies such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure Waynes World and Clerks helped make dude a ubiquitous and yep often annoying word.
